Two Athletes Earn Pan-American Team Slots
Team FORCE athletes Jack Hatton has made the 2017 Pan-American Championship Team. Hatton will compete in the -81kg category in XX,XX. This will be his debut for the Pan-Ams!
“I am very pleased to see Jack qualify for his first Pan American Team. After a full 18 months of shadowing Kayla and Travis on their 2016 Olympic run, Jack has stepped up and earned back to back Gold medals at Continental Opens in South America to earn himself a well-deserved birth on the team,” commented head coach of Team Force, Jimmy Pedro.
Jack will join teammate, Kelita Zupancic who will represent Canada in the -70kg division. Zupancic is no stranger to the Pan-American stage as this will be her sixth appearance.
“Kelita Zupancic who moved to Boston after the 2016 Rio Olympics to prepare for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo has had great success with back to back finals at the Paris Grand Slam and Continental Open in Austria. The 70kg division is stacked in the Pan Am union with 4 of the top 8 ranked girls in the World. It will be a great test for Kelita on her run toward her first world medal.”
Best of luck to Jack & Kelita at the 2017 Pan American Championships!
